Dear all,

I too am a bit surprised at Stephen's message and wish to confirm that a
proper application of the Paleopedology WG was made to become a IUSS
Commission within Division One. It was already discussed and approved in
principle at the Council Meeting in Bangkok and I believe discussed again at
the London meeting which was not entitled to take the final decision.. If a
renewed formal application is needed, I am sure Ahmet Mermut will take care
of it and I wish herewith to support it strongly.

Dear All,

for the Council Meeting I have received strong cases for the incorporation
of WG Pedometrics and WG MO as Commissions within Divisions 1 and 2,
respectively. I have not received a case from PaleoPedology to be changed
to a Commission in Division One although I have received a report of their
activities as a WG.

A proposal could be tabled in Philadelphia if it arrives too late for the
imminent mailing.
