Dear Leon,

I don't agree with you and I fully support Fitzpatrick'position that the
term paleosol is a complete non sense. I have now been working for nearly
20 years with paeosols wthotuh needing the word, and even more trying to
keep as far as possible from the tradtional literature dealing with
paeosols in noder not to be caught in the actualistic concept of soil
profile. No doubt that the term geosol should have never been invented. I
still don't understand how a community of geologists might have got the
idea to put these two words together when soil is obviously part of the
Geo, for all of us.
As Fitz seems to be, I think I am doing well with buried soils when well
identified, pedo units when only a part is preserved and pedosediments for
all sedimentary units bearing relicts feature of pedological phases. I
don't think I need more.
