Soils & the Stratigraphic Code: Addendum

Posted by Keith Crook 28 Jul 1999 06:52:55

G'day Everyone: In my earlier posting (dated 17/6/99) on the above
subject, I was unable to cite a later reference to usage of the term
"pedoderm" originally proposed by Brewer et al. (1970). Those wishing to
pursue the subsequent discussion and usage of this term by soil scientists
in Australia should read the paper by Walker et al. (1984), cited below.

Brewer, R., Crook, K. A. W. and Speight, J. A., 1970. Proposal for soil
stratigraphic units in the Australian stratigraphic code. J. Geol. Soc.
Aust., 17, 103-111.

Walker, P. H., Beckmann, G. G. and Brewer, R. (1984) Definition and use of
the term 'pedoderm'. J. Soil Science 35, 505-510.

Aloha, Keith.
