ISFWP is planned as a Symposium within scientific program of the III Congress of Dokuchaev Soil Science Society of Russian Academy of Sciences. The Congress will take place on July 10 - 16 in an ancient city of Suzdal, Vladimir oblast, 230 km east of Moscow, Russia.

Scientific Program for ISFWP

Themes for the symposium may be expanded or modified depending on correspondence but they are currently expected to include:

Polygenetic concepts of Quaternary and pre-Quaternary surface paleosols.
Methodological recognition of soils with relic properties: definition, classification and modelling.
Environmental implications of paleopedogenic features for agriculture, forestry etc.
Buried Quaternary and pre-Quaternary paleosols as tools for reconstructing and modelling environmental changes.
(Paleo)pedology and Archaeology. Dating of paleosols.

The Symposium organizers are planning a four day program consisting of three-days of oral presentations interrupted by a one day intra-symposium field trip in the vicinity of Suzdal.

Tentative schedule of the Congress

July 10-11	arrival of participants, registration
July 11	opening ceremony and Plenary session for the Congress (optional for ISWP participants)
July 12-13	ISWP sessions
July 14	mid-Congress field tour
July 15	ISWP session followed by Paleopedology Commission business meeting Closing ceremony for the Congress (optional)
July 16-20	Post-conference field tour

Post- symposium field trips will focus on Paleosols, typical for Central part of Russian Plain of different time intervals
