Working Groups

Since 1991 the Working Groups on Paleosol Manual and International Register of Paleosols have been discontinued. At the inter-Congress Symposium in 1993 they were replaced by the following:

  1. Definitions and terminology, chairman J.A. Catt
  2. Classification of paleosols, chairman W.D. Nettleton
  3. Pedostratigraphy, chairman R. Morrison
  4. Methods of field and laboratory study, chairmen A. Bronger and R. Kemp
  5. Diagenesis, chairman sought
  6. Alluvial pedogenesis, chairman Whitney Autin
  7. Dating, chairman sought

At the business meeting M. Singer (USA) offered to co-ordinate an Inter-American Working Group on Paleosols, to take advantage of American funding currently offered for such links. Upon suggestion of X.M. Fang it was decided to rename the Working Group on Paleoclimate and interpretion of paleosols and give it the following name: "Paleosols and Paleoclimatic Change in Eastern and Central Asia (PPCECA)". Around 20 people from different countries could be registered as members of this Group. X.M. Fang was adopted as a Chairman of this Working Group. A group on geoacrchaeology was adopted upon suggestion of R. Morrison.

Unfortunately, not all the members specified their interest in specific Working Group activity. Those who did not are still requested to indicate their interest either to Commission secretary A. Makeev, or to Working Group leader.
