Ecological Agriculture Conference - Sergiev Posad

Dear friends,

The fourth annual International Conference "Problems of Ecological Security in Agriculture" will be held 20-22 October 1998 in Sergiev Posad, Moscow Oblast (Russia). The following issues will be presented and discussed at this conference:

1. Basic principles of ecological security in agriculture.

   This topic includes reports about agribusiness management to minimize enviromental damage, regulatory mechanisms in agriculture for organic production, and scientific advances to improve agriculture and environmental security.
   
   

2. Medical & biological toxicity evaluation of agricultural chemicals and environmental pollutants accumulated in agricultural production.

   This topic includes reports about new techniques of detecting these substances, their toxicity mechanisms, and methods of removal or minimization.
   
   

3. Ecologically- Safe Technologies in agriculture.
   • In crop production.
   • In livestock.
   • In processing and storage.

   This topic includes reports about new environmentally-safe techniques, and new improvements that decrease toxic environmental inputs without lowering productivity.
   
   

4. Dissemination and teaching of environmentally-safe techniques. Principles and Methods.
   • Through adult education.
   • Through Extension Services.
   • Through publishing instructional materials, organizing exhibitions and other methods.

Reports and exhibition stands will be presented at the conference; written submissions will be included in conference materials. Conference presentations and written submissions should be sent to the Organizing Committee of the conference no later than September 1, 1998. Text of reports should contain no more than 8 pages, including figures, tables and other materials. Please include an abstract (no more than 250 words) summarizing the main results and scientific or practical significance. Two copies of each report and abstract should be submitted. Please be sure to indicate your telephone, fax and email address on all materials.

The official language for the conference is Russian; Russian-English translation will be provided for presentations and discussion groups.

The registration fee of US $200 must be paid upon registration. Accomodation is included in the registration fee. Travel expenses to Moscow are the responsibility of each participant. We ask you to inform us of your flight number and time of arrival; representatives of the college will gladly meet you in Moscow.
