S.F. Bay Area Non-Profits Are Helping Build Russia's Nonprofit Sector!

The Russian interns listed below received management training in counterpart American non-profit agencies in October, 1996.


Olga Didenko - Managing Director of "Yabloko," serving disadvantaged families in the Moscow area.
Host Organization: Richmond District YMCA (San Francisco).

Irina Koshkina - Development Director for Ecojuris - Women Lawyers for Environment and Development.
Host Organization: Earth Island Institute (San Francisco) & Clean Water Action (San Francisco).

Olga Lipovskaya - Director of St. Petersburg's Center for Gender Issues, and past editor of the feminist journal "Samizdat."
Host Organization: Women's Institute for Leadership Development (San Francisco) & Women's Foundation (San Francisco).

Elena Morozova, MD - Director of the Charitable Fund of Supporting Motherhood, an organization serving disadvantaged pregnant and nursing women.
Host Organization: Planned Parenthood - Golden Gate (San Francisco)

Victor Nabatov - General Manager of Czasnogvardsky Invalid League, which promotes independent living for disabled veterans.
Host Organization: Rubocon Bakery (Richmond) & Recreation Center for the Handicapped (San Francisco).

Olga Popova - Psychologist at "Our Home," an integrated educational center serving 50 mentally disabled children and their families.
Host Organization: Through the Looking Glass (Berkeley) & Oakes Children Center (San Francisco).

Pavel Vasiliev - President of Nadezhda (Hope), a center offering rehabilitation programs for mentally disabled children and advocating against direct and indirect discrimination of disabled persons.
Host Organization: Coalition on Homelessness (San Francisco).

Valery Sokolov - President of "Notchlezchka," a night shelter in St. Petersburg leading the movement to end homelessness and to rehabilitate homeless people.
Host Organization: Recreation Center for the Handicapped (San Francisco)
